HELP HELP .........Tabs in the lagoon

by WannabeTVChef @ 2008-09-20 - 00:11:33

How can I use the tabs? He

I'd like to use the template called lagoon and make use of the tabs on the header. I hope to use the tabs so i can catagorize recipes better starter/dessert meat/fish for example and file tags away to make the margin less cluttered and make it easier for readers to find a recipe or article?

currently when i click on a tab I get no page at all?

thank you

Kevin

IN the Widgets section of the Design Wizard, click on the icon of the spanner for the 'Navigation' widget.

There you can edit what will appear in the header tabs.

Make sure you enter the correct URL.

Sorry but I know I have to edit the url line inside the navigation widget.

But what i don't know how do publish these index pages in the background so the blog reader does not see them?

When I tag a recipe with the word starter would it automatically by filed on the tab labelled starter?

On the tab (index page itself)can I only write the names of the dishes or can I make the recipe a live link to take the reader straight to that article.

Sorry if these questions are in anyway dumb?
I just wish the designer could have have the tabs feature more ready to use for boneheads like me.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'index page'. Do you mean the main blog page? Or the page that the tab links to?

If you want a tab for everything tagged 'starter', you would need the URL http://kevinashtonfood.blog.co.uk/?tag=starter
Then everything that you tag with 'starter' will automatically appear in there.

Hope this helps.

Just seperate them with a comma.

AH! Silly me.

Just go back and add the widget again. And again. And again. :)

Yep, just adding the widget again in exactly the same way should do it.

Re your comment: IN the Widgets section of the Design Wizard, click on the icon of the spanner for the 'Navigation' widget.

I am on the widgets section and I can`t see any `Navigation widget. Where exactly is it. I am a pro user but I am having problems with the design. I only have one design choice - Cool Breeze or else doing it myself with the HTML option.

I would also like to add page breaks so all my articles aren`t just one long page with endless scrolling, but I can`t find how to do that either.

If you don't see it, click on 'Add more widgets'. This takes you to the widgets that aren't currently in your widget pool.

I think I have just mailed you from support@blog.co.uk about the page breaks issue.

I am trying to reproduce the design issue now.

OK, when in the Design Manager, are you sure that the filter near the middle left of the screen is set to show 'All Designs'?

Also, on the right, in the 'Create Design' box, did you click on 'Create Design' with 'design template' selected? This should bring you to a large list of available designs.

Sorry, Rampage but I still can not get the tabs to work correctly. I typed in your example into the navigation widget, one for starter/dessert...one meat/seafood etc.

But the whole recipe appears when you click on the tab plus the other blog post that was not tagged starter?

the template writer had put a url of

/?disp=tags for example not /?tag=starter

I have tried it both ways and I can not get it to work.

I'm about to give up on the idea of using the tabs.
I just want to streamline the appearence of my blog.

Sorry but I find your answers to short to help me.

Is it possible for you to take a look at the blog?

I am considering giving up on blog.co.uk because it is taking to long to sort this issue out.

If it was working correctly and I click on tab starter/dessert, should I get a list of the dishes labelled dessert or should I get a the blog posts themselves that I then scroll through?

Thank you
